TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Registration and bidding on this auction site is currently only available to citizens or permanent residents of Australia who are over 18 years of age and legally able to form a binding contract with the seller of an auction item.  Registration is free and does not oblige you to purchase anything.  Priam Australia retains the right to refuse, suspend or cancel any registration. If you are not a citizen or permanent resident of Australia and are interested in purchasing birds or products, please contact Priam Australia for more information by emailing: ppc@priam.com.au

Once you have registered and before you bid at auction or make a purchase you will be asked to complete your contact details.  Please provide your current residential or business address.  Please also provide a phone number that you can be contacted on, especially if you are bidding in any of our auctions.  We will use your current contact details and contact numbers throughout auctions to aid in bidder verification.

Registration for auctions closes 48 hours before the final day of bidding.  However, if you find it necessary to be registering late, please email ppc@priam.com.au or call 0421 383 051 to arrange late registration processing.

Bid retraction requests cannot occur for any particular auction item.

Priam Psittaculture Centre PPC reserves the right to de-register users if necessary

When you bid and/or buy on Priam Australia you are entering into binding obligations.  Bidders must be aware that on placing bids they are in a position to win the item they are bidding on and therefore obligated to purchase at the price indicated at the close of auction, providing reserve price is met, if theirs is the winning bid.  If you are the winning bidder you are obliged to pay the winning bid amount plus any additional charges such as any delivery and/or storage fees agreed to.  Title of goods does not pass to the successful bidder until full payment for same is made.

We may at our sole discretion choose to withdraw and not proceed with completion of the sale of the item in circumstances including (but not limited to) where:  credit card details are incorrect, there are insufficient funds or the credit limit is insufficient, failure to transfer the correct funds, inability to contact the winning bidder.

Sellers offer only legitimate items for sale for which they are legally able to sell.  Once the reserve price (if existing) has been reached the seller is obligated to sell to the bidder with the highest, winning bid.

You must not engage in bid manipulation.  Bid manipulation is any practice which unfairly induces other users to make bids or controls the bid price.  This includes (but is not limited to) bidding in a way that pulls other bidders to their maximum bid, or employ Shill bidding (the use of secondary registrations, associates or aliases to artificially raise the bidding on an item).  Buyers are also prohibited from communicating with each other for the common purpose of manipulating the final purchase price of an item.

All birds advertised on Priam Australia are microchipped, DNA blood sexed where appropriate and checked by an avian veterinarian, Dr Sandy Hume (Inner South Veterinary Centre, ACT).   Priam Australia guarantees that the birds comply with all the requirements of the Australian Government’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) and National Parks and Wildlife Act, 1974.   As of January 1, 2006 blood samples are taken from all Priam-bred birds for long term storage so that at any time when required, genetic material can be supplied to prove the bird(s) parentage or origin.  All purchasers are supplied with a Movement Transfer Record showing microchip numbers, leg ring details, date of birth, and details of parentage.   All birds are recorded on ISIS (International Species Information System), an international data base recording system which aims to serve institutional, regional and global animal record keeping and conservation goals.

Auction and Bidding

All bids are inclusive of GST.

Freight is not included in the final price.

A Traditional Auction listing allows the selling of items to the highest bidder.  Traditional Auctions allow the Seller to choose to set both a Reserve and Buy Now price.  The start price is specified, and people bid against each other in specified bid increments.

For example, the bid increments for Priam's Auction ending April 3-4, 2010, were:

If the amount is equal to or greater than ($):  The bid increment will be ($):

  0.00 0.05

 1.00   0.25

  5.00   0.50

    25.00   1.00

100.00 2.50

    250.00      5.00

    500.00         10.00

          1,000.00   25.00

    2,500.00   50.00

    5,000.00   100.00

The earliest bidder wins when two bidders place the same bid amount.

Priam Australia uses Proxy Bidding, an automatic method of bidding that increases your bid to the next lowest price when another user bids on the same item.  ie the system is built so that you can put in your maximum bid and the program will bid for you in the increments that are related to the value being bid.

For example: The current bid on say 'lot 1 cocky' is $65.  I want to spend a maximum of $150 on this 'lot 1 cocky', so I put in that this is my maximum bid, $150.  The program (located and hosted in the US) will automatically increase my bid for me, every time someone bids higher than my bid, up to my chosen $150 limit, or until the auction ends.   Likewise, the program will automatically increase another person's bid, if they have set a maximum price higher than you are currently bidding for the same item.

The Auction closes at the end of the time period specified for that online auction where there are no new bids during the 4 minutes immediately preceding the end of the time period specified.  Priam Australia uses Sniper Protection software.  It is currently set to 4 minutes (Refresh Period).  If a bid is placed within this set number of minutes before the item ends, the auction will be automatically extended this number of minutes.   The auction will continue to be extended until there are no more bids within the Refresh Period.   Due to circumstances beyond our control the Refresh Period may vary from time to time by a number of seconds.  Priam Australia accepts no responsibility for any circumstances or incidents arising as a result of any slight variations that may occur in the Refresh Period.

For example: The sniper protection minutes are set to 4.  Bidder A is the highest bidder on Item #1.  Bidder B places a bid on Item #1 with 30 seconds left before the end of the auction.  The end time for Item #1 is now extended 4 minutes.

At the bottom of every listing there is a "Comments" section where you can ask the Seller a question, or view previous questions from other users.
